Is this the Hill’s you want to die on?

The Statesman reports that Hill’s Barbecue Market on Steck has closed.

Funny thing about that. It is right around the corner from my apartment, but I never ate there. Lawrence and I had planned an SDC there. But when Lawrence called ahead to verify that they were open, they told him they’d stopped serving dinner. Even though dinner was clearly advertised on their website at the time, yep, no dinner on Saturday night or any other night of the week.

So we went to Dickey’s instead. I would have been happy to give a local place my business, but they decided it wasn’t worth it.

Too bad, but I can’t say I’m surprised. I don’t think they had a very good location, plus the other issues with Hill’s probably hurt them. (To be honest, we haven’t been to Hill’s in a while, either. I remember the food other than burgers being just okay. And it seems kind of out of the way; I’m not down on Ben White for the dinner hour that often.)
